OG Factions on Java and Bedrock
Claim land, build a base, raid your enemies and fight for KOTH. Here's how factions works on Retro's Factions.
Start a faction
Head into the wilderness with /wild or the Wilderness portal at spawn, find a spot you like and make your faction. A faction can have up to 20 members and 3 allies.
Claimed land is yours: other players can't build or open chests there. But claims don't stop TNT, so build walls and hide your loot well.
Once you're in a faction, type /kit faction for the faction starter kit: 64 obsidian, 128 stone bricks, chests, hoppers, iron doors, TNT, a faction banner and supplies. You can claim it once a week.

Raid with TNT and cannons
Every player has up to 10 power. Each chunk your faction claims uses 1 power, and dying costs you 4. Power comes back slowly over time, about 1 every 5 minutes.
When a faction has more land than power, enemies can over-claim its land. TNT, TNT cannons and creepers all break claimed land, so raiding is part of the game. Obsidian walls slow raiders down.
Spawn is a SafeZone with no PvP. The ring outside the spawn walls is a WarZone with PvP on all the time, where dying still costs power.
KOTH three times a day
KOTH Hill is a terraced hill in a ring of mountains. Get there with /warp koth or its gate in the Mini Games Hub.
When
Every day at 3 PM, 6 PM and 9 PM Eastern, as long as at least 2 players are online. Type /koth to see the next one. You get a warning in chat 5 minutes and 1 minute before, and it's posted in the Discord.
How to win
Drop from the sky lobby, fight your way up and stand on the summit. Hold it for 3 minutes without being knocked off.
The reward
$10,000, a Retro Crate key and the KOTH King chat title. The winner is posted in the Discord too.
Ways to make money
You need money for ranks, kits, spawners and gear. There are lots of ways to earn it, and none of them cost real money.
Farming
Every crop sells in /shop. Crops you replant by hand pay the most: wheat $8, nether wart $10, carrots and potatoes $5. /kit farmer gets you started.
Mining
Sell the blocks and ores you mine. Cobblestone is $5, an oak log $10, iron $30 and a diamond $250.
Auction house
List an item with /ah sell <price> and other players can buy it any time, even when you're offline.
PvP
Kills in The Pit pay $250. Get 5 kills in a row and a bounty goes on your head. BedWars pays for kills, beds and wins.
Daily rewards
Finish the sky parkour once a day for $10,000 and a crate key. Every vote is worth $5,000 and a vote crate key.
Invite friends
When a friend joins, they type /referred <your name>. After they play for an hour you get $10,000 and a crate key, and they get $5,000.
11 ranks, all earned in game
Buy the next rank with /rankup using in-game money. Each rank keeps everything from the ranks below it. Ranks can't be bought with real money.

A castle above the clouds
Spawn is a walled castle on a floating island. The courtyard has the server sign, a fountain, the Retro Crate, the staff wall and leaderboards for the top factions and richest players.
The outer ward has a tavern, a bank, a market square where vendors open the shop, a stable and a rose garden. A sky parkour spirals above the courtyard.
Under the sign, three portals take you to the Factions shop, the wilderness and the Mini Games Hub.
Extras
Edible heads
Kill a player in PvP and they drop their head. Eat it for golden apple effects, or keep it as a trophy.
Silk Touch spawners
Mine a spawner with a Silk Touch pickaxe and it keeps its mob type when you place it again.
Kill and death counters
/kills and /deaths show the top 10 and your own rank. /kills <player> shows anyone's K/D.
mcMMO skills
Level up skills like mining, woodcutting, swords and archery as you play.
Season pass
/pass has 30 tiers. The free track gives money, keys and titles. The premium track is cosmetic only.
Cosmetics
/cosmetics has trails, kill effects, pets, hats and chat titles. Some are earned, like KOTH King and Parkour Pro.
